Neil Kromer enters his 21st season as an assistant coach for the RIT men’s basketball team in 2017-18. Kromer, a 2006 inductee into the RIT Athletics Hall of Fame, is an operations manager at RIT’s Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies. He also served as an assistant under McVean at Eisenhower College.
Kromer knows what it takes to excel on the hardwood. As an NAIA All-American in 1974 at Eisenhower College, Kromer was Eisenhower’s all-time leading scorer and a four-year Most Valuable Player.
Kromer has three children: Kellie, Eric, and Katie. Kellie is a 2000 graduate of Keuka College with a degree in occupational therapy. Eric graduated from RIT in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Katie is a 2005 graduate of RIT, earning her bachelor’s degree in diagnostic medical sonography.
Kromer and Karen Behlau reside in Canandaigua, N.Y.
Coach McVean says: “We are happy to have Neil back for another year. He is an invaluable member of the staff in regard to practice and game situations. He has excellent insight into the game and can evaluate opponents efficiently. Neil plays a big part in practice and game planning. His ability to help our players adjust in-game is a huge asset.”
