Mike Broderick begins his second season on the coaching staff at RIT. He brings a wealth of coaching knowledge having spent 35 years coaching basketball at the high school and collegiate levels.

At the college level, Broderick was an assistant coach at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse from 1991-94. He helped the Laker’s to a record of 72-25 in three seasons, highlighted by a NJCAA National Championship in 1993. He was the head coach at Canandaigua Academy from 1997-2017. While at Canandaigua, Broderick led the Braves to a Finger Lakes East Championship in 1999, earning Finger Lakes East League Coach of the Year honors. He led Canandaigua to the Section V “A” finals in 2002, the first appearance for the Braves in 25 years.

Broderick led Canandaigua to the Section V Class “AA” finals, leading the Braves to a 17-5 record, earning Messenger Sports Coach of the Year honors. He led Canandaigua to the Monroe County II Championship in 2014-15, earning Monroe County II, Messenger Sports and Section V Class “A1” Coach of the Year honors.

Broderick, earned his bachelors and master’s degrees in education from SUNY Cortland. He began his coaching career as the junior varsity Coach at Victor Central Schools in 1983. Broderick taught physical education in the Port Byron, Rush-Henrietta and Canandaigua City School Districts. A resident of Canandaigua, Broderick and his wife of 31 years, Mary, has three daughters Barbara, Kelly and Michelle. Kelly is the head women’s basketball coach at Medaille College.
