Jake Scott begins his third season as an assistant coach at RIT. Just five years removed from college, Scott has an incredible amount of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate level.
After earning his bachelor’s degree in sport studies from St. John Fisher in 2005, Scott became a graduate assistant coach at Division I Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va., under current Duke Assistant Coach Jeff Capel. Scott developed scouting reports, and helped in the recruiting aspect. In 2006, Scott earned his master’s degree from VCU in sport leadership.
Scott became the junior varsity head coach at Atlee High School in 2006. The following season, Scott earned the head varsity basketball coaching and athletic director positions at nearby Amelia Academy. He coached the squad to an 18-10 record and a second-place finish in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference.
Scott currently resides in Victor and is an Account Representative for EastBay.
Coach McVean says: “Jake’s experience at the high school level and also directing his own program bring a great deal of perspective to our program. Having the experience in a Division I program will also benefit our players. His insight brings a unique perspective to our coaching staff.”
