Biography
2005-06: Appeared in 23 games … provided good defense and hard work while earning more playing time as the season wore on … pulled down 12 rebounds and hit a game-tying 3-pointer with two seconds left in regulation against SUNY Brockport in the J.P. Morgan Chase Scholarship Tournament … scored five points and added four steals in a win over D’Youville … made his first collegiate start against Alfred … earned Empire 8 President’s List honors for maintaining a minimum 3.75 grade-point average.
Before RIT: Averaged 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists per game as a senior at Wellsville for Head Coach Jim Insley … team captain … two-time team MVP … named to the Section V All-Tournament Team twice … earned All-Greater Rochester Second Team and Third Team All-State honors … also played baseball at Wellsville … earned First Team All-State honors.
Personal: International business major … son of Carrie and Rick Whitwood.
Coach McVean says: “Rick can play both guard positions as well as the small forward role. He will be used more at the two or the three because he is an exceptionally good rebounder for his size and is a quick jumper.”
