ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The No. 3 seed RIT men's lacrosse team hosts No. 4 Union in the Liberty League Championship on Sunday (May 3) at 1:00 p.m. The winner received the automatic berth into the 2026 NCAA Division III Tournament.

ABOUT RIT
RIT advanced to the title game with an 11-9 come-from-behind win at No. 2 St. Lawrence, Friday. Trailing 7-4 at halftime, RIT outscored the Saints 7-2 in the second half, including 4-0 in the fourth quarter. Sophomore attack
Ryan Sanders scored a man-up goal with three minutes remaining to cut St. Lawrence's lead to 9-8. Sanders scored again with 54 seconds to play to tie the game 9-9 and first year face-off specialist
Philip Minardo won the ensuing draw and scored the go-ahead goal with 48 seconds remaining. Sophomore midfielder

Alex Zborowski made nine saves in goal for the Tigers.
RIT leads the Liberty League averaging 14.89 goals per game and is third allowing 9.50 goals per contest. The Tigers lead the conference averaging 39.5 ground balls per game, third in faceoff percentage (.567) and third causing 11.0 turnovers per contest. RIT is second in the league converting 36.2 percent of its man-up chances and second killing off 75.0 percent of its penalties.

Erich Acton leads the team and the Liberty League with 72 points. He is tied fourth in the league with 43 goals and seventh with 29 assists. He is third in the league averaging 4.0 points per game, fifth averaging 2.39 goals per game and eighth averaging 1.61 assists per contest. ABOUT UNION
Union advanced to the Liberty League Championship with a 10-4 win at No. 1 Ithaca, Friday. The Garnett Chargers led 5-3 at halftime and outscored the Bombers 5-1 in the second half. Junior Nick Lynch made 11 saves in net for Union and first year Garrett Salit tallied four points on two goals and two assists. Senior Walker Popko scored four goals, and first year Luke Allen tallied a goal and three assists. Senior Luke Tranter won 8-of-17 faceoffs and had five ground balls.
Union is sixth in the Liberty League averaging 11.26 goals per game and fifth allowing 10.08 goals per contest. The Garnett Chargers are third in the league converting 35.6 percent of its man-up chances and fourth killing off 70.5 percent of its penalties. Union is sixth in the league averaging 9.42 caused turnovers per game, fourth in faceoff percentage (53.7%) and third averaging 35.89 ground balls per game.
Popko leads Union and is third in the league with 67 points and leads the conference with 49 goals. Salit is second on the team and sixth in the league with 64 points. He leads Union and is sixth in the league with 30 assists. Senior Emmett Lyne is third on the team in scoring with 40 points (22g, 18a) and Allen is fourth with 37 points (27g, 10a).
Sophomore Luke Foster leads the team with 26 caused turnovers, senior John Sula is second with 25 and senior Chris Weitzel is third with 24 caused turnovers. Tranter has won 239-of-425 (56.2%) of his faceoffs. He is fifth in the league in faceoff winning percentage and fifth averaging 5.37 ground balls per game. Lynch is 8-10 this season. He is fifth in the league with a 10.22 goals-against average and third with a .559 save percentage.
RIT v. UNION
RIT is 33-3 all-time against Union, including a 9-0 record in Liberty League Tournament play. This is the sixth time RIT and Union have faced off in the conference championship and first since 2023.
