ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT Softball team fell twice to visiting Brockport, 8-1 and 9-7, Wednesday.
BROCKPORT 8, RIT 1
- Brockport scored runs in five of the seven innings while holding the Tigers to a single run in the first.
- The Golden Eagles loaded the bases in the top of the first but only brought one run home.
- RIT answered with a run in the bottom of the first. Sophomore Anna Cavotta reached on a leadoff single and eventually came around on a Brockport throwing error.
- The Golden Eagles scored two more in the second and got out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the second without allowing any runs.
- Brockport logged a run in the third for a 4-1 lead and scored two more in the fifth for a 6-1 lead before adding two more in the seventh for the final seven run decision.
- RIT sophomore starter Addison Hill took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits and two walks while striking out six in four innings of work. Senior Jessica Majot allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six over the final three innings.
BROCKPORT 9, RIT 7
- First-year Taryn Jones finished 2-for-4 with a two-run home run while Cavotta went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and two RBI.
- Brockport struck for three runs in the first, including a two-run double by Paige Wentland.
- RIT got one back in the bottom of the first. Sophomore Carlianna Ewing and first-year Taryn Jones knocked back-to-back singles before sophomore Kate Carlone walked to load the bases with one out. First-year Madison Passineau hit a ball to shortstop that yielded a force out at second, but plated Ewing.
- The Tigers tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the second. First-year Sabrina Hotra drew a one-out walk before sophomore Sylvia White singled to left. Cavotta brought both runners home with a double to the center field wall.
- Brockport strung three hits together to score twice in the top of the third for a 5-3 lead, but RIT retied the score with two in the fourth. Cavotta and Ewing hit back-to-back singles before Jones walked to load the bases. Carlone followed with a sacrifice fly to left before Passineau singled through the left side to bring home Ewing with the tying run.
- The Golden Eagles scored three in the fifth on four hits and a Tiger error for an 8-5 lead.
- RIT responded with two in the bottom of the sixth. Ewing reached on a leadoff single before Jones homered down the left field line off the bottom of the foul pole to make it a one-run game, 8-7.
- Brockport scored once more run in the top of the seventh, bringing a run around on a Tiger throwing error to complete the sweep.
- Hill also took the loss in game two, allowing three runs (two earned), five hits and a walk while striking out two in 2.2 innings of relief. Sophomore starter Mackenzie Blair went 2.1 innings, allowing five runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk, while Majot allowed one run on one hit over the final two innings.

RIT returns to Liberty League play with two road doubleheaders this weekend. The Tigers will take on RPI on Friday (Apr. 17) at 3:00 p.m. before heading to Skidmore on Saturday (Apr. 18) for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch.
