Softball drops two games against St. Lawrence, 12-2 and 5-2

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT Softball Team dropped a Liberty League doubleheader to St. Lawrence by scores of 12-2 and 5-2, Saturday.
 
ST. LAWRENCE 12, RIT 2
  • St. Lawrence scored seven runs in the top of the third inning, taking a 7-0 lead on Maeve Thompson's RBI walk.
  • The Tigers answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning. First year Madison Passineau hit a fly ball that was bobbled by the St. Lawrence short stop scoring sophomore Carlianna Ewing.
  • St. Lawrence tacked on five runs in the top of the seventh inning.
  • RIT added a run in the bottom of the seventh inning. First year Avalyn Leach scored on a throwing error.
  • First year Paige Stein and sophomore Anna Cavotta each had a hit.
 
ST. LAWRENCE 5, RIT 2
  • St. Lawrence's Marleigh Monroe singled to center field in the top of the second inning and Leah Verschneider scored on an error to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.
  • First year Sabrina Hotra doubled to left-center field in the bottom of the second plating sophomore Sylvia White to tie the score at 1-1.
  • St. Lawrence scored three runs in the top of the third inning. Marina Juan hit a two-run double, plating Moreno and Allison Koft.
  • Ewing singled in the bottom of the sixth scoring Sylvia White to cut St. Lawrence's lead to 4-2.
  • St. Lawrence tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh.
  • Senior Jessica Majot  worked a complete game, allowing 5 runs on 10 hits while striking out six over seven innings.
  • White went 3-for-4 and scored two runs to lead the RIT offense.
  • Jones, Ewing and Hotra each added two hits.
