No. 6 Men's Lacrosse loses 11-9 at No. 19 St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y. – RIT first year midfielder Evan Lyon scored two goals and added an assist in the No. 6 Tigers 11-9 loss at No. 19 St. Lawrence, Saturday.
 
Junior attack Erich Acton scored a goal and had two assists and sophomore midfielder Ryan Langille had a career-high three assists. Senior goalie Alex Zborowski made nine saves.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Acton and junior midfielder Nick DiLauro scored back-to-back goals early in the first period to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
  • Cam Croasdaile scored to cut RIT's lead to 2-1 before senior attack Tyson Allison gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead on his goal with 7:16 to play in the opening frame.
  • St. Lawrence scored the final three goals of the first quarter, taking a 4-3 lead on Ted Wilson's goal with 3:13 remaining in the quarter.
  • Asa Beach scored early in the second quarter to extend the Saint's lead to 5-3.
  • First year attack Brayden Kuczma and Lyon scored two straight goals, cutting St. Lawrence's lead to 5-4 on Lyon's goal midway through the quarter.
  • Henry Crean and Daniel Mahoney tallied back-to-back goals to give St. Lawrence a 7-5 lead in the third quarter.
  • Lyon scored with 4:43 remaining in the third quarter to cut the Saints' lead to 7-6.
  • Sam Wade scored to give St. Lawrence an 8-6 lead.
  • Sophomore attack Ryan Sanders scored late in the third and sophomore defensive midfielder Paulie Weinrich scored early in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 8-8.
  • Wilson scored two straight goals midway through the fourth quarter to give St. Lawrence a 10-8 lead.
  • Sanders scored with 1:57 o to play in the fourth quarter to cut St. Lawrence's lead to 10-9 and Ben Anderson scored with 49 seconds to play to make it an 11-9 final.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • RIT outshot St. Lawrence 38-29.
  • The Tigers went 21-of-22 on clearing attempts and won 15-of-23 faceoffs.
  • RIT caused 13x turnovers and had 41 ground balls.
