No. 8 Men's Lacrosse falls to No. 17 Wesleyan, 12-11

PHILADELPHIA, PA – RIT senior attack Tyson Allison scored four goals and in the No. 8 Tigers 12-11 loss to No. 17 Wesleyan at Franklin Field, Sunday.
 
Junio attack Erich Acton and sophomore midfielder Ryan Bullock each tallied a goal and two assist, and senior attack Ethan Harkins had two assists.
 
Junior defenseman Joe Holenstein caused three turnovers and senior goalie Alex Zborowski made 16 saves in net.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Wesleyan's Ben Burns scored early in the first quarter to give the Cardinals the lead.
  • Bullock tied the game at 1-1 on his goal with 11:17 to play in the opening frame.
  • Thomas Girimonti scored before first year midfielder Ewan Patrick tied the game at 2-2 in his goal with 9:18 remaining in the first quarter.
  • Girimonti tallied his second goal of the quarter to give Wesleyan a 3-2 lead.
  • Junior midfielder David Charney scored off an assist from Harkins late in the first quarter that tied the score at 3-3.
  • Senior defensive midfielder Joe Gibbons scored off a feed from junior defensive midfielder Paulie Weinrich midway through the second quarter to give RIT a 4-3 lead.
  • Doug Rabin tied the score at 4-4 on his goal with 4:29 to play in the second.
  • Allison and sophomore Ryan Sanders tallied-back-to-back goals late in the second to give RIT a 6-4 halftime lead.
  • Burns scored early in the third quarter to cut RIT's lead to 6-5 before Allison scored off a feed from Bullock with 10:39 remaining in the third to extend RIT's lead to 7-5.
  • Charlie Knapp made it 7-6 and Acton gave the Tigers an 8-6 lead on his goal midway through the quarter.
  • Ben Ehlers cut RIT's lead to 8-7 and Allison scored with 4:31 to play in the third to give RIT a 9-7 lead.
  • Wesleyan scored the first three goals of the fourth quarter, taking a 0-9 lead on Matt Morrow's goal with 8:50 to play in regulation.
  • Senior defenseman Alexander Chairs tied the score at 10-10 on his goal with 7:!4 to play.
  • Knapp scored with 2:12 remaining to give Wesleyan an 11-10 lead.
  • Allison scored with 16 seconds to play that tied the score at 11-11.
  • Hurton scored on the ensuing faceoff to make it a 12-11 final.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • Wesleyan outshot RIT 48-41.
  • The Tigers went 22-of-25 on clearing attempts and 1-for-3 on man-up.
  • RIT won 16-of-25 faceoffs and had 30 ground balls.
