No. 8 Men's Lacrosse cruises past Geneseo, 21-6

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior Erich Acton scored five goals and a career-high eight points to lead the No. 8 Tigers to a 21-6 win over Geneseo, Wednesday.
 
Senior attack Ethan Harkins tallied four goals and five points, and junior midfielder David Charney scored three goals and added an assist. Junior midfielder Nick DiLauro handed out two assists while sophomore midfielder Ryan Bullock and senior attack Tyson Allison each had a goal and an assist.
 
First-year Philip Minardo won 11-of-13 draws and had nine ground balls. Senior Ethan Spillane won 9-of-14 faceoffs and had two ground balls. Acton and senior defenseman Alexander Chairs each caused two turnovers. Senior goalie Alex Zborowski made saves in net and junior Chase Strychaluk made six saves in relief.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Geneseo's Ryan Trebing scored early in the first quarter to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
  • RIT ran off six straight goals, taking a 6-1 lead on Charney's second goal of the quarter with 2:57 remaining.
  • Jake Perinchief scored for Geneseo that cut RIT's lead to 6-2 before a Bullock goal with 1:03 to play in the opening frame extended the Tiger's lead to 7-2.
  • Charney and Acton scored back-to-back goals early in the second quarter to give RIT a 9-2 lead.
  • Trebing scored his second goal of the game with 11:12 to play in the first half to cut RIT's lead to 9-3.
  • The Tigers scored the final three goals of the half, taking a 12-3 lead on Acton's goal with 4:47 remaining in the half.
  • Acton tallied his fifth goal of the game early in the third quarter to extend RIT's lead to 13-3.
  • Trebing scored to cut RIT's lead to 13-4.
  • Harkins scored all three of his goals in the third quarter, including one off an assist from first year attack Russell Bollinger with 2:27 to play to give the Tigers a 17-5 lead.
  • Langille and first-year midfielder Evan Lyon each scored late in the third quarter to extend RIT's lead to 19-5.
  • Sophomore midfielder Turner Anderson and first-year midfielder Quinn Kailbourne each scored in the fourth quarter and Askel Stanat scored for Geneseo with 3:04 remaining to make it a 21-6 final.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • RIT outshot Geneseo 53-32.
  • The Tigers went 21-of-22 on clearing attempts and 1-for-3 on man-up.
  • RIT won 21-of-31 faceoffs.
