Baseball drops doubleheader against St. Lawrence

CLINTON, N.Y. – The RIT baseball team dropped both games of a Liberty League doubleheader against St. Lawrence, falling 6-5 in both contests, Sunday afternoon. The two games were played at Hamilton's Loop Road Athletic Complex.
 
GAME ONE (RIT 5, St. Lawrence 6)
  • St. Lawrence scored three runs in each of the first two innings to take an early 6-2 lead.
  • Roberto Reade hit a solo home run in the second inning, while Jackson Rusiecki added an RBI double in the third.
  • The Tigers mounted a late rally, scoring three runs over the final two innings.
  • Rusiecki drove in two runs with a single in the ninth, but RIT was unable to push across the tying run.
  • RIT totaled 11 hits in the opener.
 
GAME TWO (RIT 5, St. Lawrence 6)
  • The Saints again jumped out early, scoring three runs in both the first and second innings.
  • Rusiecki hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning to make it a 6-3 St. Lawrence lead.
  • In the sixth, Max Matteucci hit a solo home run to continue the RIT rally.
  • Later in the sixth inning, Mikey Zacher flied out to left field, bringing in Rusiecki to put the score at 6-5.

RIT wraps up its three-game series with the Saints tomorrow (Mar. 30) when the two teams head to Canton for a 1 p.m. contest at Tom Fay Field.
