ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT Softball team split a doubleheader with visiting St. John Fisher, bouncing back from a 9-0 (5 inn.) loss with a 3-2 victory, Wednesday.
RIT 3, ST. JOHN FISHER 2
- Sophomore Kate Carlone and first year Madison Passineau each logged RBI hits during a three-run first inning while senior Jessica Majot held the Cardinals to two runs (one earned) and struck out seven for the complete-game victory.
- Fisher led off the game with a run in the first on a two-out RBI double by Emily McManus.
- RIT bounced back with three in bottom of the inning, started by lead-off hits by sophomores Anna Cavotta and Carlianna Ewing. First-year Taryn Jones brought Ewing home from third on a Cardinal fielding error before Carlone plated Ewing with a RBI groundout. Passineau followed with a double to the left center gap to bring home Jones for the 3-1 lead.
- Fisher got one back in the second inning on a two-out RBI by Sarah Gross, but went scoreless the rest of the game, stranding seven runners despite seven hits.
ST. JOHN FISHER 9, RIT 0 (5 INN.)
- St. John Fisher scored a run in the first and rode a four-run second inning, including a two-run triple by Gross, to a 5-0 lead.
- The Cardinals scored four more runs in the top of the fifth, including a three-run triple by Gross, for the decisive runs.
- Fisher starter Molly Kuhn threw a complete-game two hitter while striking out seven.

RIT is schedule to play a doubleheader at Alfred on Tuesday (Mar. 31) at 3:00 p.m. before returning home next Saturday (Apr. 4) to open Liberty League play opposite Rochester at 1:00 p.m.
