Three Tigers land Liberty League weekly accolades

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Three RIT student-athletes were honored by the Liberty League with weekly honors announced by the conference, Monday (March 23).
 
Graduate student Max Matteucci was named Baseball Performer of the Week. Junior Joe Holenstein earned Men's Lacrosse Defensive Performer of the Week, and first-year Brayden Kuczma was named the Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week.
 
Matteucci had a standout week for RIT, producing nine RBIs, five extra‑base hits, and six runs across the Tigers' three‑game series against Clarkson. He opened the weekend with a 2‑for‑5, 3‑RBI game featuring a three‑run homer, followed by another three‑RBI, two‑double outing in Game 2. Matteucci capped the series with a two‑run homer and three total RBIs in Sunday's win. His consistent power and timely hitting fueled RIT's 2–1 series victory.
 
Holenstein recorded 12 ground balls and caused three turnovers to lead RIT to a 2-0 record. He had seven ground balls and caused a turnover in a win at No. 12 St. John Fisher. Holenstein had five ground balls and caused two turnovers in Saturday's win over Vassar.
 
Kuczma recorded nine points on six goals and three assists to lead RIT to a 2-0 record. He scored four goals and added an assist in RIT's win at No. 12 St. John Fisher. Kuczma tallied two goals and two assists in Saturday's win over Vassar.
