Baseball tops Clarkson in seven innings, 13-3

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — RIT defeated Clarkson, 13–3, in seven innings via the 10-run mercy rule on a rainy, cold Sunday morning.

The Tigers erupted for six runs in the second inning and put the game away with five more in the seventh to take the rubber game and win the series two games to one.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a scoreless first, Roberto Reade led off the second with a double to left-center, and Mikey Zacher followed with an RBI single before Trent Rapp added another RBI single to make it 2–0. Jarin Moses then launched a three-run homer over the left field fence, capping a six-run frame.
  • Clarkson made it 6–3 with two runs in the third and one in the fourth, but Max Matteucci answered with a two-run home run in the sixth to extend the lead to 8–3.
  • The Tigers put it out of reach in the seventh: Hayes Waddell walked, Zacher hit an RBI double, and after two stolen bases by Rapp and Zacher, Matteucci reached on a throwing error to plate another run. Jackson Rusiecki singled in a run, and Charlie Slaymaker and Waddell drew bases-loaded walks to force in two more, making it 13–3.
  • On the mound, starter Liam Miller struck out three over 2.2 innings before Ryan Moran tossed 4.1 innings of relief to earn the win.
