Two Tigers land Liberty League weekly honors

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Two RIT student-athletes were honored by the Liberty League with weekly honors announced by the conference, Monday (March 16). First year Taryn Jones was named the Softball Rookie of the Week and sophomore Ryan Sanders earned Men's Lacrosse Offensive Performer of the Week honors.
 
Jones batted .483 with 18 RBI, 14 hits, four doubles and scored nine runs in 10 games last week in Florida, while compiling a .724 slugging percentage. Logging at least one hit in nine games (including five with multiple hits) along with at least one RBI in eight, her week was highlighted by a 2-for-3 performance with three runs scored, a home run and three RBI in the 7-1 win over Brooklyn College (Mar. 13) as well as a 2-for-4 showing with a double, a run scored and four RBI in the 8-4 win over Alfred State (Mar. 10).
 
Sanders recorded 11 points on seven goals and four assists in three games for RIT. The sophomore attack scored a goal in RIT's 12-11 loss to No. 17 Wesleyan. He scored four goals and added an assist in the Tigers 10-7 win over No. 9 Gettysburg, Friday. Sanders rounded out the week with two goals and three assists to lead RIT to a 22-13 win over No. 15 Washington & Lee, Saturday.
