ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT wrestling team will compete at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships beginning on February 27 at Ithaca College. The Tigers will send 10 wrestlers to compete in the two-day event.
RIT is one of 20 teams competing at this weekend's regional championships. The top 3 finishers in each weight class earn qualification into the NCAA Division III Championships to be held March 13-14 in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Fifth-year
Johnathan Freebern will compete at 125 lb. He enters the weekend with eight wins, including four wins via pinfall. Freebern placed fourth at the SUNYAC Championships.
Senior
Mason Grodzki will compete at 165 lb. He enters the regional championships with a 21-9 record, including seven pins. Grodzki placed fourth at the SUNYAC Championships and sixth at the RIT Invitational.
Senior
Josh Harkless is third nationally and first in the region at 285 lb. He is 37-3 entering the championships with 26 wins coming via pinfall. Harkless finished third at the 2025 NCAA Championships to earn All-American honors.
Sophomore
Jack Lamson is ranked sixth regionally at 174 lb. He enters the weekend 17-5 with five wins coming via pinfall and placed fourth at the RIT Invitational.
Senior
Elon Martin will compete at 197 lb. He enters the weekend with five wins, including three wins via pinfall.
First year
Jackson Rush is ranked seventh in the region at 133 lb. He enters the weekend with a 23-6 record, including six wins by pin. Rush took home fifth at the SUNYAC Championships and first place at the RIT Invitational.
Junior
Isaiah Shafer enters the weekend ranked third regionally at 141 lb. He is 15-7 this season, including five wins coming by major decision. Shafer won the 141 lb. weight class at the SUNYAC Championships.
Junior
Nick Smith enters the weekend with a 15-7 record including four wins via pinfall. He placed sixth at 184 lb. at the RIT Invitational.
Sophomore
Max Watson enters the weekend with a 13-7 record, including two wins via pin. He is ranked sixth regionally at 149 lb. and placed fourth at the RIT Invitational.
Sophomore
Josh Warland is ranked sixth in the region at 157 lb. He enters the weekend with a 12-4 record, including four wins coming by pin. He placed third at the RIT Invitational.
