Women's Basketball hosts Skidmore in Liberty League Semifinals

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The RIT women's basketball team hosts Skidmore in the semifinals of the Liberty League Tournament, Friday at 5:30 p.m.

HOW THEY GOT HERE
  • The No. 2-seeded Tigers finished the regular season at 19-6 overall and 16-2 in Liberty League play.
  • Skidmore is the six-seed in the tournament after going 9-9 in the Liberty League and 12-14 overall. On Tuesday, the Thoroughbreds topped No. 3-seed RPI in the quarterfinals, 50-42.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • In their two games this season, RIT has escaped with a pair of wins. The first game was on Dec. 5 when the visiting Tigers edged Skidmore, 47-46, in Saratoga Springs. RIT picked up a 58-49 home victory over the Thoroughbreds in the regular season finale this past Saturday.
  • The Tigers are 15-14 all-time against Skidmore.
  • RIT has met the Thoroughbreds one time in the postseason, which was in the 2017-18 Liberty League Tournament championship game, where the two-seeded Tigers fell to top-seeded Skidmore, 65-42.

  • Junior guard Maddy Ramsgard leads RIT with 11.8 points per game and leads the Liberty League in field goal percentage (46.5).
  • Caroline Henderson, a sophomore guard, is right behind with 11.7 points per game and ranks second in the conference with2.9 three-point field goals made per game and is third in three-point field goal percentage (34.6).
  • Junior forward Faye Kaplinski is averaging 7.5 rebounds, which is third best in the Liberty League, to go along with 9.0 points per game.
  • As a team, the Tigers hold their opponents to just 51.8 points per game, which is a conference best and puts them 26th in all of Division III in that category.

  • The winner of this game advances to the championship game, which will be played at the highest-remaining seed on Sunday (Mar. 1).
