Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse beats Nazareth, 16-3

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior attack Jenna Bovenzi tallied two goals and three assists to lead the Tigers to a 16-3 win over Nazareth, Wednesday.
 
Sophomore attack Cameryn Case scored three goals, senior midfielders Grace Validzic and Morgan Nichter and senior attack Zoe Heffernan each tallied two goals and an assist.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • RIT led 4-0 after the first quarter. Validzic tallied a goal and an assist in the opening frame, while Nichter, Heffernan and senior midfielder Eliza Barton each scored a goal.
  • The Tigers scored the first four goals of the second quarter, extending their lead to 8-0 on junior midfielder Sarah Hallinan's goal with 7:26 remaining in the half.
  • Briana Panko and Grace Gardner scored back-to-back goals for Nazareth to cut RIT's lead to 8-2.
  • Bovenzi scored with 23 seconds to play to give RIT a 9-2 lead at halftime.
  • Case and senior midfielder Kate Trojan each scored in the third quarter, while Megan Martin scored for the Golden Flyers.
  • Nichter, Validzic and senior midfielder Adele Jones each scored in the fourth quarter, while Case scored the final two goals of the game to make it a 16-3 final.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • Validzic finished with five caused turnovers and two draw controls, and Jones led RIT with four draw controls.
  • RIT outshot Nazareth 40-10.
  • The Tigers won 13-of-19 draws and went 12-of-12 on clears.
  • Senior goalie Ellie Ruddy made two saves in net for RIT.
