Women's Lacrosse opens Judson Stadium with 15-8 victory over Geneseo

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior midfielder Adele Jones scored six goals while senior midfielder Morgan Nichter added three goals and three assists to open the season with a 15-8 victory over visiting Geneseo, Saturday, in the inaugural game played at Judson Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT scored three unanswered goals in the first quarter led by a goal and an assist by Nichter.
  • The Tigers built a 5-1 lead with 6:06 left in the second on tallies by senior midfielder Grace Malidzic and Jones, before Geneseo scored twice in the final two minutes to pull within two entering halftime.
  • Jones started the second half with back-to-back goals and later finished a 6-2 third-quarter surge as RIT built an 11-5 lead entering the fourth.
  • Jones and senior midfielder Kate Trojan started the final period with back-to-back goals for the Tigers' largest lead of the game, 13-5, with 10:48 left in regulation. Geneseo responded with two goals, but Jones and Nichter found the net for a 15-7 lead with 7:39 remaining. 
GAME NOTES
  • Senior attack Zoe Heffernan ended the game with three goals and two ground balls.
  • Jones also finished with eight draw controls and a pair of ground balls while senior attack Milena Stephen led the way with nine draw controls.
  • Senor goaltender Ellie Ruddy finished with eight saves to earn the victory.

RIT heads to Nazareth on Tuesday (Feb. 24) for a 4:00 p.m. start opposite the Golden Flyers.
