No. 4 Men's Lacrosse rides second-half surge to 19-10 victory over Grove City

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore attackman Ryan Sanders scored five goals and two assists while junior attackman Erich Acton added five goals to lead the fourth-ranked Tigers to a 19-10 victory over visiting Grove City in the inaugural game played at Judson Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The teams combined for 14 first-quarter goals as the Tigers held a 9-5 lead after 15 minutes of play. Sanders accounted for four goals and an assist, including two goals during a 6-1 run that yielded a 9-3 lead with 3:15 remaining.
  • The Wolverines scored three-straight goals to start the second, pulling within one, 9-8, with 10:57 on the clock. Acton tallied unassisted at 4:20 as RIT carried a 10-8 lead into halftime.
  • Sophomore attackman Ryan Bullock started the third with consecutive goals in a 2:36 span to kick off a decisive 7-1 RIT run that yielded a 17-9 lead entering the fourth quarter.
  • The Tigers took a 19-9 lead with 12:42 remaining, holding Grove City to two second half goals en route to the victory. 
GAME NOTES
  • Six Tigers finished with multiple points while eight tallied at least one goal.
  • Senior attackman Ethan Harkins was credited with two goals and three assists, while Bullock ended with two goals and two assists.
  • Junior Ethan Spillane won a game-high eight faceoffs on 13 attempts, while first-yearPhilip Minardo won 7-of-16 and picked up a team-high seven ground balls.
  • Junior defenseman Joe Holenstein caused a team-high four turnovers and chipped in an assist. 
  • Senior goaltender Alex Zborowski made 10 saves to backstop the victory.
