ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Five RIT student athletes were honored by the Liberty League with weekly honors announced by the conference, Monday.
Junior
Maddy Ramsgard was named the Women's Basketball Performer of the Week. On the men's side senior
Alex Zborowski was named the Men's Lacrosse Defensive Performer of the Week and first year
Evan Lyon was the Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week. Sophomore
Yu Tanimoto was the Men's Tennis Performer of the Week and Tanimoto and classmate
Alexander Sinclair were named the Men's Doubles Team of the Week.
Ramsgard guided RIT to a pair of road wins at RPI and Vassar over the weekend, averaging 18.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Against RPI, Ramsgard tallied 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists, then finished with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 assist against Vassar.
Zborowski made 12 saves to lead No. 4 RIT to an 11-7 win at No. 20 Denison, Saturday. He made one save in the first quarter, three in the second, five in the third and three in the final quarter.
Lyon recorded two assists to help No. 4 RIT to an 11-7 win at No. 20 Denison, Saturday. He assisted on
James Corry's goal to give RIT a 1-0 lead. Lyon assisted on
Ryan Bullock's goal midway through the second quarter to extend the Tigers lead to 5-3.
Tanimoto and Sinclair posted a 2-0 record in matches at No. 24 Christopher Newport and No. 34 Averett. Friday, the duo defeated Nesh Kumaresan and Gabe Smith 6-4 in the Tigers 5-2 loss to CNU. Tanimoto and Sinclair beat Lucas Fiandra and Alex Rudy 6-2 in RIT's 4-3 win over Averett.
Tanimoto recorded a pair of wins at first singles at No. 24 Christopher Newport and No. 34 Averett. Tanimoto beat Nathan Russell 6-1, 6-4 in Friday's 5-2 loss to Christopher Newport. The sophomore defeated Satwik Kollepalli 6-0, 6-2 in Saturday's 4-3 win over Averett.
