Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Women's Hockey loses 4-2 at No. 4 Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – RIT sophomore forward Ireland Stein scored two goals in the Tigers 4-2 loss at No. 4 Penn State, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Abby Whitehouse scored a power play goal 8:13 into the first period to give Penn State the lead.
  • Grace Outwater gave the Nittany Lions a 2-0 lead on her goal at 10:27 of the opening frame.
  • Stein scored 10:09 into the second period to cut Penn State's lead to 2-1. First year forwards Cassie Barnes and Tilli Keranen each had an assist. Stein skated into the Penn State zone and fired a wrist shot. She gathered the rebound and scored past Penn State goalie, Katie DeSa.
  • Stein tied the game at 2-2 on her power play goal at 15:10 of the second off assists from Keranen and senior forward Jaidan Fahrny. Stein took a pass from Fahrny and fired a wrist shot from the slot past DeSa.
  • Kendall Butze scored at 18:02 of the second to give the Nittany Lions a 3-2 lead and Maddy Christian scored 28 seconds into the third period to make it a 4-2 final.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • Penn State outshot RIT, 39-22.
  • RIT went 1-for-4 on the power play, while Penn State went 1-for-3
  • First year forward Tilli Keranen had two assists.
  • Sophomore Brenna McNamara finished with 35 saves
  • RIT finishes fourth in the Atlantic Hockey America standings
