Women's Hockey downs Delaware, 8-1

NEWARK, DE – RIT junior defender Emma Pickering scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Tigers to an 8-1 win at Delaware, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Pickering scored a power play goal at 8:07 of the first period to give RIT a 1-0 lead. She skated into the Delaware zone and scored on a wrist shot between Mattie Robtizer's legs.
  • Delaware's Katelyn Charlton scored a power play goal at 10:41 of the opening frame to tie the score at 1-1.
  • Sophomore forward Brac Kelley scored a power play goal at 17:06 of the first period off an assist from first year forward Tilli Keranen to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead. Kelley fired a slap shot from the top of the Delaware zone into the corner to give the Tigers a one-goal lead.
  • First year forward Kolbee Ashe scored at 9:06 of the second period to extend RIT's lead to 3-1.
  • Senior forward Lexi Sung gave RIT a 4-1 lead on her goal at 14:20 of the second period and junior forward Addie Alvarez scored at 18:42 of the period to give RIT a 5-1 lead.
  • Sophomore forward Zoe Ziotas scored at 6:32 of the third period to give RIT a 6-1 lead.
  • Kelley scored her second goal of the game at 11:46 of the third and Pickering tallied her second goal of the game at 15:58 of the third to make it an 8-1 final.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • RIT outshot Delaware, 47-14.
  • RIT was 2-for-4 with the extra skater, and the Blue Hens were 1-for-2.
  • Senior goalie Sophia Bellina made 13 saves in net for RIT.
  • Kehler recorded a career-high three assists
