POTSDAM, N.Y. – The RIT women's basketball team defeated Clarkson, 68–53, Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers used a dominant second quarter and strong three‑point shooting to pull away and win their fourth-consecutive win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Graduate student guard Hannah Durand connected on back‑to‑back threes late in the first quarter to give RIT a 19–13 advantage through the first 10 minutes.
- The Tigers outscored Clarkson 17–6 in the second quarter, aided by a 9-0 run at the start of the quarter to take a 36–23 halftime lead.
- Junior guard Ella Wilson hit a three‑pointer at 6:03 of the third, pushing the RIT lead to 28 points.
- RIT took a 24-point lead with six minutes remaining in the game when junior Faye Kaplinski made a layup and a free throw.
GAME NOTES
- Sophomore guard Caroline Henderson scored 14 points with two steals as junior guard Maddy Ramsgard finished with 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
- Wilson and Durand came off the bench, totaling 10 and eight points, respectively. Durand also dished out five assists.
- Kaplinski grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
- RIT shot 48.1 percent from the floor, including 11-of-19 from three.
- The Tigers recorded 17 assists on 25 made baskets.
- RIT held Clarkson to 6-of-19 shooting from beyond the arc.
- RIT won the rebounding battle, 37–24, and outscored Clarkson 25–6 in bench points.
- RIT improves to 8-2 in the Liberty League and 11-6 overall.
