POTSDAM, N.Y. – The RIT men's basketball team fell to Clarkson, 86–64, in Liberty League action, Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The visiting Tigers opened the game on a 6–2 run, including a three-pointer from junior guard Brody Brown and two early free throws from first-year guard Xavier Nelson.
- First-year forward Nigel Pierman scored nine straight RIT points during a 9–2 Tigers stretch midway through the first half, tying the game 23–23.
- Clarkson answered with a 17–7 run to close the half, taking a 42–33 lead at the break.
- The Tigers cut the deficit to 55–41 when graduate student forward Josiah Turner made a layup with 16:18 remaining.
- Clarkson pulled away behind five second-half three-pointers and 24 bench points after halftime.
GAME NOTES
- Nelson scored a career-high 12 points, including three first-half three-pointers.
- Brown finished with 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting with three assists.
- Pierman totaled 11 points and six rebounds.
- The Tigers forced 12 turnovers and recorded 8 steals.
- RIT's record moves to 4–13 overall and 1–9 in the Liberty League.
