Women's Hockey hits the road for a game at Brown

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's hockey team hits the road for a non-conference game at Brown on Saturday (Jan. 24) at 1:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT:
RIT lost a pair of Atlantic Hockey America games against Mercyhurst, losing 5-3 on Friday and 2-1 in overtime the following day. Sophomore forwards Kailey Favro and Brac Kelley and junior defender Emma Pickering each scored a goal and sophomore forward Ireland Stein had a career-high two assists in Friday's loss. Senior goalie Sophia Bellina made 21 saves and sophomore goalie Brenna McNamara made 13 saves in relief.
 
Saturday, Pickering scored a goal, while first year forwards Cassie Barnes and Kolbee Ashe each had an assist. McNamara got the start in goal making a career-high 37 saves.
 
ABOUT RIT:
RIT enters the weekend third in the Atlantic Hockey America standings with a 9-9-0 conference record and 28 points. RIT is four points ahead of Syracuse who is fourth with 25 points.
 
The Tigers average 3.0 goals per game and allow 2.4 goals per contest. The Tigers are 30-of-91 (33.0%) on the power play and 72-of-91 (79.1%) on the penalty kill. RIT has won 752-of-1,478 (50.9%) of its faceoffs and blocked 372 shots.
 
RIT features six players with six or more goals and eight players with 10 or more points. Pickering and junior forward Addie Alvarez are tied for first on the team with 26 points apiece. Pickering leads the team with 11 goals, including a team-best six power play tallies. Alvarez leads the team with 17 assists. Kelley is third on the team with 19 points (10g, 9a) and Favro is fourth with 17 points (3g, 14a).
 
Pickering leads the team with 76 blocked shots. First year defender Laura Dyke is second with 36 blocks and junior forward Linda Rulle and sophomore defender Madison Buziak are tied for third with 32 blocks each. First year defender Riley Gramlich is fourth with 30 blocked shots.
 
Bellina is 11-11 with a 2.46 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage, while McNamara is 2-2 with a 1.56 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage.

ABOUT BROWN:
Brown enters the weekend fifth in the ECAC Hockey standings with an 8-6-2 conference record and 26 points. The Bears split a pair of conference games, losing to No. 10 Cornell, 3-1 on Friday and beating No. 14 Colgate, 6-2 the following day. Sophomore forward Monique Lyons scored a goal in Friday's loss to Cornell. Junior goalie Rory Edwards made 25 saves in goal for the Bears.
 
Lyons and junior forward Margot Norehead each tallied two goals and an assist in Saturday's win over Colgate. Junior forward Sam Broz and senior forward India McDadi each had two assists, while Edwards made 32 saves to earn the win in goal.
 
Brown averages 2.3 goals per game while allowing 2.1 goals per contest. The Bears have converted 13-of-72 (.181 percent) of their power play chances and killed off 39-of-53 (73.6%) of their penalties. Brown has won 662-of-1,283 face offs (51.6%) and average 10.09 blocked shots per game.  
 
McDadi leads Brown in scoring with 20 points on seven goals and a team-high 13 assists. Lyons is second in scoring with 18 points and is tied for first on the team with 11 goals. Norehead is third in scoring with 17 points and is tied with Lyons for first on the team with 11 goals. Broz is fourth on the team with 14 points (3g, 11a).
 
Sophomore defender Victoria Damiani leads Brown with 28 blocked shots. First year defender Isabella Gratzl is second with 26 blocked shots and Norehead is third with 20 blocks.
 
Edwards is 4-5-2 with a 2.46 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. Sophomore Anya Zupkofska is 8-4-0 with a 1.55 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage.
 
RIT VS. BROWN:
RIT is 13-9-1 all-time against Brown. The Bears swept a pair of games in January of 2024, winning 4-1 and 3-0. RIT's last win was a 4-2 victory on Oct. 26, 2019.
