Women's Basketball defeats RPI, 59-43

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Senior guard Erin DiPaola scored a game-high 14 points as the RIT women's basketball team defeated RPI, 59-43, Saturday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT jumped out to an 18-12 lead after the first quarter, fueled by four three-pointers and seven points off the bench.
  • The Tigers extended their advantage to 30-24 at halftime, highlighted by a late jumper from sophomore guard Caroline Henderson.
  • RIT dominated the third quarter, outscoring the visiting Engineers 19-7 behind a balanced attack and three triples, including one from DiPaola.
  • The Tigers maintained control in the fourth, holding RPI to 4-of-15 shooting and forcing six turnovers to seal the win.
 
GAME NOTES
  • DiPaola finished a perfect 6-of-6 shooting, including two three-pointers, and added three assists in the winning effort.
  • Sophomore forward Ben Kayser-Cochran and graduate student guard Hannah Durand each scored 10 points; Durand hit two threes and went 2-for-2 from the line.
  • Maddy Ramsgard, a junior guard, contributed eight points, five rebounds, and a team-high five assists.
  • RIT shot 44.4 percent (24-of-54) from the floor and 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from beyond the arc.
  • The Tigers held a 37-29 advantage on the boards and recorded 14 assists.
  • RIT's bench scored 19 points, while the defense forced 14 turnovers and tallied seven steals.
  • The Tigers improve to 9-6 overall and 6-2 in conference play, while the Engineers slip to 10-5 and 5-3 in the league.
