Women’s Basketball falls to Vassar, 73-48

ROCHESTER N.Y. - The RIT women's basketball team fell at home to Vassar, 73-48, Friday.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both teams stayed within three points of each other for most of the first quarter before Vassar pulled ahead with an 8-2 run in the final three minutes to take a 17-10 lead to end the quarter.
  • Vassar led by as much as 10 early in the second quarter before RIT found momentum going on a 13-4 run to bring the Tigers within one point with 2:13 left.
  • The Brewers responded with six unanswered points to end the half, going into halftime with a 30-23 lead.
  • Vassar started the second half, scoring eight unanswered to take control of the game, outscoring the Tigers 21-10.
  • Trailing 51-33 at the start of the fourth, RIT used a 6-0 run try to get back into the game but were unable to rally a comeback.
 
GAME NOTES
  • First-year guard Caroline Henderson had a team-high 12 points with three rebounds and two assists.
  • First-year forward Ben Kayser-Cochran had 11 points with a team-high 7 rebounds.
  • Senior guard Hannah Durand had nine points, three rebounds, and two steals.
  • The loss puts RIT at 12-10 overall and 10-5 in the Liberty League.
