Women's Hockey celebrates 50 years with 4-2 win over Delaware

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior forward Addie Alvarez recorded three points to lead the Tigers to a 4-2 win over Delaware on the 50th anniversary of women's hockey, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Alvarez scored a power play goal at 15:13 of the first period to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
  • Sophomore forward Ireland Stein tallied a power play goal from Alvarez and Pickering to extend RIT's lead to 2-0.
  • First year forward Cassandra Barnes scored at 4:15 of the second period from first year defender Riley Gramlich and sophomore forward Zoe Ziotas to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead.
  • Meera Smith scored for Delaware at 5:48 of the third period that cut RIT's lead to 3-1.
  • First year forward Tilli Keranen scored at 8:18 of the third to give the Tigers a 4-1 lead and Danica Mark scored a power play goal at 12:06 of the third to make it a 4-2 final.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • RIT outshot Delaware, 50-17.
  • RIT was 2-for-4 with the extra skater, and the Blue Hens were 2-for-4.
  • Senior goalie Sophia Bellina made 15 saves in net for RIT.
  • Kelley and Pickering tied their career-highs for goals in a game.
