Women's Hockey celebrates 50 years with two games against Delaware

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's hockey team hosts Delaware for a pair of Atlantic Hockey America games on Friday and Saturday (Dec. 5-6). Both games at the Gene Polisseni Center begin at 3:00 p.m.

50 YEARS OF RIT WOMEN'S HOCKEY:
RIT women's hockey team is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025. Join the Tigers on Saturday, December 6 as they take on Delaware at 3:00 p.m. to celebrate five decades of women's hockey at RIT. The celebration will be highlighted by a pre-game breakfast with the current RIT women's hockey student-athletes and coaching staff on Saturday, followed by an in-depth tour of the Gene Polisseni Center. All former women's hockey players in attendance will be recognized during the second intermission of Saturday's contest
 
LAST TIME OUT:
RIT split a pair of games against Robert Morris last weekend, losing 5-1 on Friday followed by a 6-3 win the following day. Junior defender Emma Pickering scored a goal in Friday's loss.
 
Saturday, Pickering had a career-high four assists. First year defender Cassandra Kehler scored her first collegiate goal and senior forward Jaidan Fahrny, junior forward Linda Rulle and sophomore forwards Zoe Ziotas and Brac Kelley each scored a goal. Senior goalie Sophia Bellina made 30 saves in net for the Tigers.
 
ABOUT RIT:
RIT enters the weekend tied for third in the Atlantic Hockey America standings with a 5-7-0 conference record and 16 points. RIT, who is tied with Robert Morris, is two points behind Mercyhurst in second place, and four points ahead of Syracuse who is fifth with 12 points.
 
The Tigers average 2.8 goals per game and allow 2.4 goals per contest. The Tigers are 24-of-73 (32.9%) on the power play and 60-of-72 (83.3%) on the penalty kill. RIT has won 556-of-1,126 (49.4%) of its faceoffs and blocked 298 shots.
 
RIT features six players with five or more goals and seven players with 10 or more points. Pickering leads the team with 18 points and 13 assists. Junior forward Addie Alvarez is second on the team with 17 points and is tied for first with seven goals. Rulle is third on the team with 14 points and is tied with Alvarez for first on the team with seven goals. Keranen is fourth with 12 points (6g, 6a) and Kelley (5g, 6a) and sophomore forward Kailey Favro (2g, 9a) are tied for fifth with 11 points apiece.
 
Pickering leads the team with 55 blocked shots. First year defender Laura Dyke is second with 30 blocks and first year defender Riley Gramlich and sophomore defender Madison Buziak are tied for third with 28 blocks each.
 
Bellina is 7-10 with a 2.49 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage. Sophomore Brenna McNamara is 2-1 with a 1.32 goals-against average and a .948 save percentage.

ABOUT DELAWARE:
Delaware enters the weekend seventh in the Atlantic Hockey America standings with a 1-9-0 conference record and five points. The Blue Hens lost a pair of non-conference games at Union last weekend, losing 7-0 on Friday and 3-0 the following day. Charlotte Payne made 33 saves in Friday's game and junior goalie Mattie Robitzer made 36 saves, Saturday.
 
Delaware enters the weekend seventh in Atlantic Hockey averaging 0.94 goals per game and seventh allowing 3.94 goals per contest. The Blue Hens are seventh in the AHA converting 1-of-67 (1.5 percent) of their power play chances and second killing off 47-of-56 (83.9%) of their penalties. Delaware has won 439-of-1087 face offs (40.4%) and leads the AHA averaging 23.67 blocked shots per game.  
 
Graduate student forward Kaitlin Finnegan (4g, 3a) and first year forward Katelynn Charlton (4g, 3a) leads Delaware in scoring with seven points apiece. First year forward Meera Smith (2g, 2a), first year defender Lexie Lonask (1g, 3a) and senior defender Tiana McIntyre (1g, 3a) is tied for second on the team with four points each. Lonask leads the AHA with 86 blocked shots. First year defender Bailey Gray is fourth in the league with 45 blocks and Finnegan is sixth with 42 blocked shots.
 
Payne is 2-7-0 with a 3.59 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage. She is second in the league averaging 39.8 saves per game. Robitzer has a 3.96 GAA and a .917 save percentage and leads the AHA averaging 40.33 saves per contest.
 
RIT VS. DELAWARE:
This weekend will be the first meetings between Delaware and RIT. This is Delaware's first season in Division I.
