ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT men's basketball team fell at home to Brockport in non-conference action, 84-65, Tuesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior guard Brody Brown opened the game with a three-pointer for RIT, but the visiting Golden Eagles responded with a 10-0 run to take control early.
- Brockport led by as many as 15 points in the first half, fueled by three-pointers from Jacob Oka and Camron Dyer.
- RIT cut the deficit to 23-21 midway through the first half after a layup by graduate student forward Josiah Turner before Brockport closed the half on a 20-7 run.
- Early in the second half, Zachary Rice threw down a fast-break dunk at the 18:02 mark to give Brockport a 45-28 lead, its largest margin to that point.
- Sophomore guard Marcus Graves hit a three-pointer with 5:57 remaining to make it 71-57, but Brockport answered with a layup and a three-pointer to seal the win.
GAME NOTES
- Turner led RIT with 15 points and 12 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.
- Brown added 11 points, including two three-pointers, and three blocks.
- First-year guard Xavier Nelson scored seven points and grabbed four rebounds.
- As a team, the Tigers shot 38.7 percent (24-for-62) from the floor and 26.3 percent (5-for-19) from three-point range.
- Brockport finished 52.6 percent (30-for-57) from the field and hit 12 three-pointers.
- The Tigers held a 42-32 advantage on the boards, including 14 offensive rebounds.
- With the loss, RIT slips to 1-3 overall through four games.
