CLEVELAND, OH – The RIT wrestling team competed at the Bob Del Rosa Ohio Open, Sunday.
Senior
Josh Harkless placed second at 285 lb. in the Open Division. He pinned Gino Guerrisi (Mercyhursy) 21 seconds into his opening match. Harkless, the top seed, beat Angelo Camargo (Baldwin Wallace) with a fall 2:26 into his quarterfinal match. He beat Jake Powell (Tiffen), 5-1 in the semifinal before a 7-1 loss to Dorian Crosby in the finals.
Sophomore
Luke Pires defeated Caleb Hoffman (Baldwin Wallace) with a 17-2 technical fall in his opening match at 157 lb. in the Freshman/Sophomore Division. After a loss in the round of 16, Pires beat
Peter Graham 15-4 in the consolation round.
First year
Alex Brandt (141 lb.) won a pair of matches in the Freshman/Sophomore Division. He beat Connor Desaultels (Gannon) with a fall at 2:43 of this first match and pinned Bryce Russell 2:47 into his round of 16 bout.
First year
Brody Kontouris pinned Dani Rosen (Case Western) 1:41 into his opening match in the Freshman/Sophomore Division at 174 lb. After a loss in the quarterfinal, Kontouris picked up a 6-5 decision over Isaac Bassa in the consolation round.
First year
Marco Rivera won a pair of matches at 149 lb. in the Freshman/Sophomore Division beating Andy Sanchez (Baldwin Wallace) 18-2 and Noah Rulbal (John Carroll) 20-4 before a loss in the quarterfinals.
