Women's Hockey loses to Robert Morris, 5-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior defender Emma Pickering scored a goal in the Tigers 5-1 loss to Robert Morris, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Robert Morris' Alaina Giampietro scored at 7:19 of the first period to give Robert Morris a 1-0 lead.
  • Morgan Giannone scored at 19:04 of the opening frame to give the Colonials a 2-0 lead.
  • Jessica MacKinnon scored at 2:03 of the second period to give Robert Morris a 3-0 lead and Giampietro scored her second goal of the game at 9:47 of the second to extend the Colonials lead to 4-0.
  • Pickering scored a power play goal at 9:54 of the third period from junior forward Addie Alvarez and sophomore forward Ireland Stein to cut the deficit to 4-1.
  • Linnea Misner scored at 16:03 of the third period to make it a 5-1 final.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • Robert Morris outshot RIT, 41-29.
  • RIT was 1-for-1 with the extra skater, and the Colonials were 1-for-7.
  • Senior goalie Sophia Bellina made 15 saves for RIT and sophomore goalie Brenna McNamara made 21 stops.
