Jaidan Fahrny scored two goals in the Tigers 4-3 loss to No. 6 Penn State, Saturday. First year forward
Tilli Keranen had a season-high two assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Penn State's Danica Maynard scored 2:11 into the first period to give the Nittany Lions a 1-0 lead.
- Tess Janecke gave Penn State a 2-0 lead on her goal at 7:38 of the opening frame.
- Fahrny scored the first of her two first-period goals at 11:02 of the first to cut Penn State's lead to 2-1. Sophomore forward Addie Alvarez fed Fahrny with a pass and she scored on a wrist shot from the slot.
- Fahrny scored a power play goal at 17:50 of the first to tie the game at 2-2. Sophomore defender Madison Buziak fired a shot from the point that Fahrny tipped in for her second goal of the period.
- Katelyn Roberts scored at 10:28 of the second period to give Penn State a 3-2 lead.
- Sophomore forward Brac Kelly tied the game at 3-3 on her power play goal at 14:55 of the second.
- Keranen skated into the zone and fired a shot. The rebound came to first year defender Cassandra Kehler. Her shot was saved. The rebound bounced to Kelley who poked a shot home for her fourth goal of the season.
- Maynard scored her second goal of the game at 9:57 of the third period to make it a 4-3 final.
GAME NOTES:
- Penn State outshot RIT, 38-19.
- RIT was 2-for-6 with the extra skater, and the Nittany Lions were 1-for-5.
- Senior goalie Sophia Bellina made 34 saves for RIT.
