Women's Hockey wins 1-0 at Mercyhurst

ERIE, PA – RIT senior goalie Sophia Bellina made a career-high 46 saves and first year defender Riley Gramlich scored a goal to lead the Tigers to a 1-0 win at Mercyhurst, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • RIT outshot Mercyhurst, 15-11 in a scoreless first period.
  • Junior defender Emma Pickering, first year forward Olivia Urbach and sophomore defender Madison Buziak each had three shots on goal in the opening frame.
  • Bellina stopped all 11 shots she faced in the first period and made 25 saves in a scoreless second period.
  • Gramlich scored at 8:11 of the third period to give RIT the lead.
  • Sophomore forward Kailey Favro dug the puck out of a scrum along the boards and fed a pass to sophomore forward Brac Kelley behind the Mercyhurst net.
  • Kelley fed Gramlich with a pass out front and Gramlich scored on a wrist shot for her fourth goal of the season.
  • Bellina made 10 of her 46 saves in the third period.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • Mercyhurst outshot RIT, 46-30.
  • RIT was 0-for-2 with the extra skater and Mercyhurst was 0-for-2.
  • The Tigers won 35-of-32 face offs, including 15 from Fahrny.
  • It is Bellina's second shut out of the season and the fourth of her career.
