Women’s Basketball defeats Clarkson, 71-40

ROCHESTER N.Y. - The RIT women's basketball team defeated Clarkson at home, 71-40, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT started the game with a quick 8-0 run to start the game with three-pointers from senior guard Kaitlyn Bockelman and first-year guard Caroline Henderson.
  • Clarkson had little response to the Tigers' offense, allowing them to continue their run and end the first quarter up 20-5.
  • The visiting Golden Knights worked on closing the gap with a 9-2 run to start the second quarter before sophomore guard Maddy Ramsgard and Henderson responded with a combined seven points to end the half leading 32-21.
  • The Tigers continued to be aggressive, outscoring Clarkson 18-2 in the third quarter.
  • RIT continued their momentum, going on a 13-4 run to start the fourth quarter to cement their win over Clarkson, 71-40.
 
GAME NOTES
  • First-year forward Ben Kayser-Cochran had a team-high 14 points and eight rebounds.
  • Senior guard Hannah Durand had 13 points and a team-high three assists.
  • Senior guard Kaitlyn Bockelman had 11 points and six rebounds.
  • As a team, the Tigers shot 48.2 percent from the field while holding Clarkson to 26.0 percent.
  • The win puts RIT's record to 8-7 overall and 6-2 in Liberty League action.
