Women's Lacrosse loses 16-9 at RPI

TROY, N.Y. – RIT junior midfielder Lily DePalma scored two goals in the Tigers 16-9 loss at RPI, Saturday.
 
Sophomore midfielder Milena Stephen and sophomore attack Serafina Kiselgof each scored two goals, while senior attack Carissa Hlywa had a goal and two assists. Sophomore attack Adele Jones finished with a goal and an assist.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • RPI scored the first seven goals of the game, taking a 7-0 lead on Mia Banglmaier's goal with 6:37 to play in the quarter.
  • Kiselgof broke the run with her goal with 1:21 remaining in the opening quarter to cut RPI's lead to 7-1.
  • RPI's Ella Graff had a goal and an assist in the Engineer's three-goal spurt to begin the second quarter. She assisted on Audrey Silverman's goal with 6:50 to play in the first half to extend the lead to 10-1.
  • Kiselgof and sophomore midfielder Morgan Nichter scored back-to-back goals, cutting the RPI lead to 10-3 on Nichter's goal off an assist from Hlywa with 4:20 to play in the half.
  • Emily Speck scored inside the final two minutes of the quarter to give RPI an 11-3 halftime lead.
  • RIT scored the first three goals of the third quarter. Stephen, DePalma and Jones each scored to cut the deficit to 11-6 on Jones' goal with 4:06 to play in the quarter.
  • RPI ran off four straight goals to begin the fourth quarter, taking a 16-6 lead on Banglmaier's goal with 4:03 remaining.
  • Hlywa, Stephen and DePalma each scored in the final 2:30 minutes to make it a 16-9 final.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • RPI outshot the Tigers, 35-26.
  • The Tigers went 15-of-17 on clears and had 13 ground balls.
  • Sophomore goalie Ellie Ruddy made 13 saves in net for the Tigers.
