Clifford Gaston scored five goals and added an assist to help lead the No. 3 Tigers to a 16-11 win over No. 2 Tufts at the Mustang Classic, Saturday.

Dylan Bruno scored two goals and added an assist, while Graduate student

Seth Grottenthaler and
Kaden Brunson each had a goal and two assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tufts scored two goals in the first 21 seconds of the game, taking a 2-0 lead on Ben Frisoli's goal.
- Pilcher scored the first of four straight RIT goals with 13:19 remaining in the first quarter. Grottenthaler, Brunson and Gaston each scored to give RIT a 4-2 lead.
- Tufts' Garrett Kelly scored to cut the deficit to 4-3 before consecutive goals from sophomore midfielder Chase Bruno and Gaston at the end of the quarter to give RIT a 6-3 lead.
- RIT scored the first three goals of the second quarter, extending its lead to 9-3 on Dylan Bruno's goal with 6:37 to play in the half.
- Tufts scored two straight goals to cut the RIT lead to 9-5, but Gaston scored with seven seconds remaining in the half to give RIT a 10-5 lead at the intermission.
- The Jumbos scored the first two goals of the third quarter, cutting RIT's led to 10-7 on Louis Timms' goal with 4:58 remaining in the frame.
- Mozrall scored from graduate Erickson to give RIT an 11-7 lead, and Erickson made it 12-7 on his goal with 29 seconds to play in the quarter.
- Jack Regnery capped off a two-goal Tufts spurt early in the fourth quarter to cut RIT's lead to 12-9.
- Gaston scored off an assist from Pilcher to give RIT a 13-9 lead before Garrett Kelly's goal to make it 13-10.
- Pilcher scored off a feed from Brunson to make it 14-10, while Max Ettinghausen made it 14-11 on his goal with 8:40 remaining.
- Junior attack Ethan Harkins and Dylan Bruno scored late in the quarter to make it a 16-11 final.
GAME NOTES
- Tufts outshot RIT, 50-42.
- Sophomore goalie Alex Zborowski made 12 saves in net to improve to 7-0.
- Graduate student face-off specialist Allyn French won 16-of-29 draws and had nine ground balls.
- RIT won 17-of-30 draws and went 26-of-31 on clearing attempts.
