Jordyn Bear scored a goal and sophomore goalie
Sophia Bellina picked up her first career shut out to lead the Tigers to a 1-0 win over Syracuse, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bear scored a power play goal at 5:17 of the opening period off assists from junior defensewoman Jessie Burks and first year forward Linda Rulle. Bear tipped in a shot from in front on a shot from Burks to give RIT the lead.
- Bellina made three saves in a scoreless second period. Senior forward Lindsay Maloney had a chance at the end of the period turned aside by Syracuse goalie, Allie Kelley.
- Bellina made 10 of her 19 saves in the third period, including one with 10 seconds to play in regulation on a shot from Syracuse's Nea Tervonen.
GAME NOTES
- RIT outshot Syracuse, 27-19
- The Tigers went 1-for-1 with the extra skater
- Burks and Rulle each had an assist
- Junior defensewoman Bailey Kehl had three of RIT's 11 blocks
- RIT is tied with Lindenwood for fourth place in the CHA standings
