Women's lacrosse loses 16-6 to Geneseo in season opener

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore midfielder Serafina Kiselgof tied her career-high scoring three goals in the Tigers 16-6 loss to Geneseo in the Tigers season opener, Thursday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Junior midfielder Lily DePalma scored early in the first quarter to give RIT the lead.
  • Geneseo scored three straight goals, taking a 3-1 lead on Maddie Brown's goal with 8:11 remaining in the quarter.
  • Sophomore midfielder Morgan Nichter cut the Geneseo lead to 3-2 on her goal with 1:56 to play in the opening frame.
  • Geneseo's Maddie Brown scored four of Geneseo's seven second-quarter goals, including one with 55 seconds to play to give the Knights a 10-3 halftime lead.
  • Sophomore attack Adele Jones scored RIT's goal in the second quarter off an assist from senior attack Carrissa Hlywa.
  • Kiselgof scored twice in the third quarter, while Molly Brown and Alaina Reina each scored for Geneseo.
  • Brown scored two of Geneseo's three fourth-quarter goals, while Kiselgof scored with time running out to make it a 16-6 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Geneseo outshot RIT, 38-20.
  • RIT sophomore goalie Ellie Ruddy made 13 saves in her first collegiate start.
  • RIT went 13-of-19 on clearing attempts and won 9-of-23 draw controls.
