Women's Hockey loses 4-0 at Union

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The RIT women's hockey team lost 4-0 on the road at Union in non-conference action, Friday.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Junior goalie Sophia Bellina made 11 saves in a scoreless first period.
  • Senior forward Megan McCormick had a shot from the slot at 7:23 of the first saved by Union goalie Sophie Matsoukas.
  • Graduate student defensewoman Mia Tsilemos had her one-timer saved on a 2-on-1 by the Tigers at 9:34.
  • Union's Maddie Suitor scored at 3:34 of the second period to give the Garnet Chargers the lead, while Greta Kropp scored at 9:38 of the period to extend Union's lead to 2-0.
  • RIT fired nine shots on goal in the third period including one from senior defensewoman Kyla Bear at 17:23 and another from graduate student forward Nicole Ness at 18:20 of the frame.
  • Kiara Kenttala scored an empty-net goal at 18:51 and Suitor scored her second of the game at 19:39 to make it a 4-0 final.
 
 
GAME NOTES
  • Union outshot RIT 38-27.
  • Bellina made 34 saves in net.
  • Each team was 0-for-2 on the power play.
