Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer rallies to beat RPI, 2-1

TROY, N.Y. – The RIT women's soccer team came from behind to earn a 2-1 win at RPI, Saturday.  Senior forward Rachel Marriott scored the game winner for the Tigers.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • With a minute remaining in the first half, Gwen Barnes put RPI on the board first with a blistering shot from 15 yards out on from the right side.
  • In the 51st minute, senior midfielder Olivia Harris sent a 25-yard shot to the upper right corner, hitting the bottom of crossbar and bouncing past the goal line.
  • Senior forward Rachel Marriott headed home a cross from senior midfielder Jessie Gomez in the 61st minute to give the Tigers the lead.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Senior goalkeeper Emily Sanchez picked up the win in goal, improving her record to 6-2-2 on the season.  
  • With the two assists, Gomez now has 12 points (3 goals, 6 assists) this year.
  • Marriott's goal was her fifth of the season; Harris improved her tally to seven goals.
  • RIT out-shot the Engineers 9 to 5, putting four shots on goal.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
RIT returns home next Saturday (Oct. 26) to take on Union at 2 p.m. The game is Senior Day for the Tigers.
