Women's Hockey downs RPI, 2-0

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT first year forward Brac Kelley scored the game-winning goal in the Tigers 2-0 win over RPI in non-conference action, Friday.
 
Senior goalie Sarah Coe made 23 saves in net to earn her second shut-out win of the season.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Kelley gave the Tigers 1-0 lead on her goal at 10:27 of the first period on wrist shot into the top corner.
  • Coe made four of her 15 saves in a scoreless second period.
  • Sophomore forward Linda Rulle had her shot from the point saved by RPI netminder, Reese Keating, and Kelley had a shot on goal at 15:29 of the second frame, winning the draw and firing a shot on target that Keating turned aside.
  • RIT fired 10 shots on goal in the third period, including a flurry midway through the period firing eight shots.
  • Coe made two saves from close range on shots from Ellie Kaiser at 16:26 of third to preserve the Tiger's lead.
  • Senior forward Jordyn Bear scored an empty-net short-handed goal at 18:16 of the period, intercepting a pass at the RPI blue-line and scoring into the empty net to make it a 2-0 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Shots were even at 23-23.
  • RIT was 0-for-4 on the power play, firing four shots on net, while the Engineers were 0-of-2.
  • Senior forwards Bronwyn Khangsar and Kylie Aquaro each had assists.
