Women's Hockey ties RPI, 3-3

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT sophomore defender Emma Pickering scored a career-high two goals in the Tigers 3-3 tie against RPI in non-conference action, Thursday.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Pickering scored a power play goal at 15:34 of the first period to give RIT the lead. First-year defensewoman Madison Buziak skated into the RPI zone and fired a shot. The rebound came out front and Pickering scored on a one-timer from the slot.
  • Rulle gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead on her goal at 18:33 of the opening frame. Senior forward Megan McCormick won the puck behind the Engineer's net. She fed Rulle in the slot and who buried a shot for her first goal of the season.
  • RPI's Ellie Kaiser scored at 3:27 of the second period to cut the Tiger's lead to 2-1.
  • Pickering tallied her second goal of the game at 6:04 of the third period, scoring on a scrum in front of the Engineer's net to give RIT a 3-1 lead.
  • Nina Christof scored at 15:59 of the third to cut the Tiger's lead to 3-2 and Aylah Cioffi tied the game at 3-3 on her goal at 18:31.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RPI finished with a 1-0 shootout win. 
  • RIT out-shot RPI 34-31.
  • Sophomore goalie Sophia Bellina made 28 saves in net for the Tigers.
  • RIT was 2-for-4 on the power play, while the Engineers were 0-of-2.
  • Rulle recorded a career-high two points (1g, 1a)
  • Buziak tallied her first collegiate point
