CEDAR FALLS, IA – The RIT wrestling team recorded a 3-1 record and placed 17th at the NWCA National Duals. The Tigers defeated Alfred State 31-13 in Saturday's 17th place match.
 
Junior Lee Rubin pinned Alfred State's Ryan Farley at 2:20. Junior Josh Post defeated Dominick Vinci, 8-3 at 141 lb., while junior Mike Glynn III beat Ethan Morrison with an 16-8 major decision at 149 lb. First-year Marek Bush pinned Benjamin Rivera 38 seconds into his match at 157 lb., and junior Liam Strouse was a 7-3 winner over Justin Smith at 165 lb. Senior Ben Dougherty pinned George Racz at 2:33 at 174 lb and Zach Swyers picked up an 8-3 win over Blake Ilges at 197 lb.

Versus Olivet, Rubin opened the match with a win (Fall 4:20) over Emmett Kettel at 125 lb. Patterson picked up a 10-2 major decision over Stuart Donlan at 133 lb. Glynn pinned Tyler Herrema at 2:36 at 149 lb., and Bush defeated Ramiro Guerrero with a fall at 2:12 at 157 lb. Strouse defeated Kyan Larson with an 18-2 technical fall at 165 lb., while Dougherty defeated Mitchell Reynolds with a 16-1 technical fall at 184 lb. Sophomore Nick Smith pinned Branson Goodman 58 seconds into his match at 197 lb.

Friday, Glynn and Smith were winners in the Tigers 24-18 loss to No. 13 Millikin in the Tiger's opening match. Glynn defeated Millikin's Chase Mirelez with a fall at 2:33 at 149 lb, while Smith defeated Tate Crowell with a fall 2:18 into his bout at 197 lb. Strouse picked up a forfeit win at 165 lb.
 
Post picked up a 4-1 win over Gabriel Bellefeuille at 141 lb. to help RIT to a 19-18 win over Concordia-Moorehead, Friday. Glynn was an 11-5 winner over Kellen Schauer at 149 lb., and Bush was an 11-4 winner over Alexander McPhee at 157 lb. Strouse improved to 2-0 on the day with an 11-2 major decision victory over Elijah Hunt at 165 lb, while Dougherty defeated Alexander Rapelje, 9-6 at 174 lb. Sophomore Elon Martin clinched the win with a 14-7 win over Connor Chloupek at 184 lb.

RIT returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 13) at the Will Abele Invitational at Ursinus at 9:00 a.m.
