Women's Hockey travels to Brown for a pair of non-conference games

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The RIT women's hockey team travels to Brown for a pair of non-conference games this Friday and Saturday (Jan. 5-6) in Providence, RI.

Recap (RIT at Saint Michael's)
RIT swept a pair of non-conference games at Saint Michael's last weekend, winning 7-0, Friday and 3-0 the following day.
 
Senior defensewoman Mia Tsilemos recorded a career-high three assists, while junior forward Athena Vasdani tallied two goals in Friday's 7-0 win. First-years Addie Alvarez and Emma Pickering and junior Kylie Aquaro each had a goal and an assist, while sophomore goalie Sophia Bellina made eight saves to earn the win.
 
Aquaro led the Tigers with a goal and an assist in Saturday's 3-0 win. Seniors Lindsay Maloney and Nicole Ness each scored, while senior goalie Emma Stephen made 16 saves to earn her first career shutout.
 
About RIT
RIT is the top defensive team in the CHA, allowing 2.11 goals per game, and blocks, averaging 15.05 per contest. The Tigers are second killing off 50-of-62 penalties (80.6%), third averaging 2.89 goals per game and fifth converting 12-of-75 (17.3%) of their power play chances.
 
Aquaro leads the team and is seventh in the CHA with 17 points. She is tied for first with four power play goals and fourth in the league with 11 assists. Senior forward Emma Roland is second on the team and tied for eighth in the CHA with 15 points. She is tied for sixth with seven goals and eight, averaging 0.37 goals per game. First-year forward Addie Alvarez is third on the team in scoring with 12 points (5g, 7a) and sophomore forward Jaidan Fahrny is fourth with 11 points (6g, 5a).   
 
Bellina leads the CHA with a 1.57 goals against average and a .947 save percentage, and is seventh averaging 21.5 saves per game. Junior goalie Sarah Coe is fourth in the league with a 2.67 GAA and third with a .918 save percentage, averaging 27.64 saves per contest.
 
Maloney is fifth in the league winning 164 face offs, winning 56.0 percent of her draws. Fahrny is ninth in the CHA with 110 face-off wins, while junior forward Megan McCormick is seventh in the league winning 55.1 percent of her draws. Pickering leads the league with 43 blocked shots, while Tsilemos is third with 34 blocks and McCormick is tied for sixth with 31. Tsilemos is third in the league with a +11, junior defensewoman Kyla Bear is fourth (+8), junior defensewoman Bailey Kehl is tied for fifth (+6) and Roland is tied for ninth (+6).

About Brown
First-year forward Ava DeCoste tallied a goal and an assist to lead Brown to a 4-2 win over New Hampshire, Dec. 10. Senior forward Maya Mangiafico, first-year forward Margot Norehad and sophomore forward Jade Iginla each scored while senior goalie Kaley Doyle made 21 saves in net to earn the win.
 
Sophomore forward India McDadi leads Brown in scoring with 12 points on six goals and six assists. Iginla is second in scoring with 11 points and a team-high seven goals, while Norehad (4g, 3a) and first-year forward Sam Broz (2g, 5a) are tied for third on the team with seven points apiece.
 
Doyle is 6-7-1 on the season with a 2.18 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.
 
RIT vs. Brown
RIT is 13-7-1 all-time against Brown. RIT swept a pair of games at the Gene Polisseni Center, 6-0 and 4-2 in 2019.
