Women's Hockey loses 4-1 at Mercyhurst

ERIE, Pa. – RIT first year forward Addie Alvarez scored in the Tigers 4-1 loss at Mercyhurst, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sara Boucher gave Mercyhurst a 1-0 lead on her goal at 12:39 of the first period, poking in a shot off a rebound in front of the RIT net.
  • Sophomore forward Jaidan Fahrny, first year defensewoman Emma Pickering and senior forward Nicole Ness each had two shots on goal in the opening frame, while sophomore goalie Sophia Bellina made 10 saves.
  • Alvarez scored at 4:59 of the second period to tie the score at 1-1. She fired a wrist shot from the slot into the top corner off an assist from junior forward Kylie Aquaro.
  • Mercyhurst's Sofia Nuutinen gave the Lakers a 2-1 lead on her power play goal at 10:24 of the second.
  • Junior forward Jordyn Bear had a chance early in the third period, but her shot sailed just wide of the Mercyhurst net.
  • Chantal Ste-Croix made it 3-1 at 5:03 of the third period, and Thea Johansson scored at 16:37 to give Mercyhurst a 4-1 lead.

  • Bellina made 22 saves in net for the Tigers
