Men's Basketball loses 59-53 at RPI

TROY, N.Y. – RIT junior guard Chase Dickens scored 13 points in the Tigers 59-53 loss at RPI, Friday.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Senior guard Matt Caggiano hit a three-pointer with 12:41 remaining in the first half to give RIT a 16-7 lead.
  • RPI's Nate Tawiah-Boateng cut the RIT lead to 18-15 on his bucket with 9:56 to play in the half.
  • Caggiano scored on a layup to give the Tigers a 20-15 lead, but Yechiel Stewart hit a three-pointer on the Engineer's next possession to cut the RIT lead to 20-18.
  • Junior forward Jackson Otis scored off an assist from junior guard Chase Dickens with 4:56 remaining to increase the RIT lead to 22-19, before Avery Eugster tied the game at 22-22 with a free throw with 2:39 to play in the half.
  • Dickens drained a three-pointer with 1:38 remaining to give RIT a 27-22 lead and Otis scored with 38 seconds remaining to give the Tigers a 29-24 halftime lead.
  • Wilburn scored early in the second half to increase the RIT lead to 31-24, while senior guard Keegan Ocorr gave the Tigers a 33-24 lead on his bucket with 18:26 remaining.
  • Eugster converted two free throws to cut the RIT lead to 33-31, before Otis scored on a layup from Ocorr to give RIT a 35-31 lead with 14:56 to play.
  • Stewart gave RPI a 36-35 lead on his basket with 12:29 remaining and Jonny Angbazo increased the Engineer's lead to four points on a three-pointer with 10:43 to play.
  • Junior forward Josiah Turner gave RIT a 40-39 lead on his layup with 9:27 to play.
  • Dickens hit a three-pointer with 6:19 remaining to increase the RIT lead to 44-39 and another from beyond the arc with 5:04 to play to give the Tigers a 49-44 lead.
  • Dylan Matchett gave RPI a 53-49 lead on his three-pointer with 3:14 remaining, but Dickens scored on the Tiger's next possession to make it a two-point game.
  • Matchett made a pair of free throws inside the final 1:30 to give RPI a 57-51 lead.
  • Otis scored on a dunk with 1:01 remaining to cut the deficit to 57-53, but PJ Scalis hit two free throws in the closing seconds to make it a 59-53 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT shot 22-of-59 from the floor, including six three pointers
  • Wilburn scored 10 points and Otis tallied eight points
  • RPI held a 39-35 rebounding advantage
