Women's Hockey beats Penn State, 3-2 in OT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT first year forward Addie Alvarez scored 2:11 into overtime to help lead the Tigers to a 3-2 win over Penn State, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Senior defensewoman Mia Tsilemos had two shots on target and sophomore goalie Sophia Bellina made 11 saves in a scoreless first period.
  • Senior forward Nicole Ness scored 1:31 into the second period to give RIT the lead. She tipped in a shot from in front off a shot from Tsilemos.
  • Junior forward Jordyn Bear scored at 18:19 of the second period off an assist from junior forward Kylie Aquaro to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
  • Alva Johnsson scored at 19:26 of the period to cut the RIT lead to 2-1, while Katelyn Roberts tied the game at 2-2 on her goal at 17:43 of the third period.
  • Aquaro tipped the puck to Alvarez who broke in 1-v-1 on Penn State goalie, Josie Bothun, scoring on a wrist-shot into the top corner.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Penn State outshot RIT, 46-28
  • Aquaro finished with two assists.
  • Bellina tied her career-high making 44 saves in net to earn the victory.
  • RIT went 0-for-2 on the power play and blocked 19 shots.
