ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The RIT women's volleyball team opened Liberty League play with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-19) victory at Bard, Saturday, before also sweeping SUNY Poly, 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-12).
RIT 3, BARD 0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-19)
- The Tigers opened a 9-2 lead in the opening set and moved ahead by as many as 11 on two occasions, including 24-13, en route to the win.
- Bard led, 8-7, after a 4-0 in the second, but RIT responded with an 8-1 run for a 15-9 edge. Bard battled back within two, 18-16, but the Tigers used a 5-1 surge to take a 23-17 in would not relinquish.
- Tied, 5-5, in the third, RIT rode a 10-2 run to a 15-7 lead and later led, 20-12. Bard scored five of the next six points to pull back within four, 21-17, but the Tigers forced match point with three-straight points to put the match out of reach.
- Senior setter Sydney Neff logged a three-set season-high 30 assists along with 11 digs while directing the Tiger offense to a .299 attack percentage.
- First-year opposite Macie Jolliffe logged a team-high nine kills along with a career-high seven service aces.
RIT 3, SUNY Poly 0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-12)
- RIT made up an early 8-7 deficit with a decisive 17-3 run, including three kills apiece by Jolliffe and senior outside hitter Cat Vento, to put the first-set out of reach.
- The Tigers opened the second with five-straight points and later strung together an 8-0 run for a 13-3 lead. RIT pushed its lead to 21-7 on its way to a two-set lead.
- The Tigers opened an 11-2 third-set lead and later rode a 7-0 run to a 21-8 lead it would not relinquish.
- Jolliffe once again led the way with 12 kills on .385 hitting while also notching nine digs.
- Neff added 27 assists along with 10 digs.
- Junior outside hitter Corie Beale served up a career-high seven service aces.
